For Memorial day weekend I took a very spontaneous trip to Mexico. Lately, I want to go anywhere and everywhere and I have never been to Mexico before so it was the perfect weekend getaway. I crossed the border by car for a drive to the Baja Peninsula with 1 local and 5 other friends. Most of the weekend was spent in jeans and a t-shirt with no cell service, salty breezes and lots of fish ceviche. I did want to document the trip to share some of my adventures and fav spots with you here. Ready to start sharing some more travel with you so this is just the beginning. Also excited to finally launch a YouTube Chanel!! I have made my first attempt at a video blog below sharing some moments from my trip. It’s rough, but it sums up my trip perfectly. Hope you enjoy and don’t forget to subscribe to my channel here.

La Fonda Restaurant, Bar and Hotel
Driving down the coast highway in Mexico brings you through alot of small towns worth stopping to check out. We stopped at La Fonda for the beach views and to grab a quick bit. We shared an order of the fish ceviche while live music played. This place was so laid back. The perfect pit stop on our road trip.

Our House
We rented a house right on the beach on the Punta Banda Peninsula. This was key for our late night bon fires.

La Bufadora
La Bufadora is a marine geyser located on the Punta Banda Peninsula. They call it the “blowhole.” It’s a huge sightseeing attraction there. There is a small road leading to the geyser lined with TONS of shops. Artisan piece, pineapple drinks, anything and everything you could image. Also lining the street, tons of restaurants to get your fillof mexican eats.

Ensenada
We went out for dinner at a restaurant called Mahi Mahi. I had the cold octopus salad and a margarita. We enjoyed probably the best Beatles cover band I have ever heard and got on the dance floor with locals. Great service and lucky for me the waiters spoke amazing English. We later check out the night club Papas & Beer. While I am not a night club person at all, it was cool to see a little bit of Ensenada night life. Another little spot I checked out was called La Guerrerense. A small little seafood tortas stand on the street. Being a huge Anthony Bourdain fan, he visited this truck and said it was a must eat. So, I came and I ate. You order from a selection of seafood ranging from fish ceviche, sea urchin, to clams. A really unique authentic treat for a quick bite. I mistakenly called these tacos (whoopsie!) on my instagram but these tostadas were tasty.

Wine Tasting
The day we drove back home, we drove through the Valle de Guadalupe and stopped at the L.A. Cetto Winery. We took a tour and enjoyed some wine and cheese from their shop at their outdoor tables. It was CRAZY hot but worth it get a little taste of Mexican Wine Country. Apparently this one is one of the top producers and biggest in the area.

Puerto Nuevo
Let’s call this lobster heaven. We stopped in Puerto Nuevo on our way back home. Another coastal town is self-described as “Lobster Capital of Baja.” We went to Ortega’s and chowed down on lobster for $20 bucks. Unreal. Well worth making a pit stop for some cheap lobster and margaritas. This place was right on the beach but unfortunately it was dark so I could not enjoy the view.

Amazing road trip weekend. Ensenada, I’ll be back. Happy Travels.
