Naturalist Scenes

What a weekend! Brian and I headed off to the suburbs to enjoy a weekend with my parents. It’s always filled with lots of great food, some glasses of wine, and a walk at one of our favorite nature preserves. This Sunday, for Father’s Day, we went to the Valley Forge Audubon Society. It houses some of the original works of John James Audubon, the original naturalist painter. Brian and I have both been fascinated by his work and it was amazing to see his big folio books in person. Of course they didn’t allow us to photog in the museum part, even though I wanted to scam an iphone pic, Brian and my dad were like the good little angels on my shoulder saying, “Don’t do it. Don’t you see the cameras??” Smart words. Smart words. It was a STEAMY 95 degrees outsides so we lurked around the museum building watching the red tail hawks fly by, and just took in the scenery.

For my outfit, I was looking to create a “Safari Chic” look for Jessica’s Weekly Style Challenge. I immediately knew I was going to wear this hat I bought from Urban for $5 bucks in a sale bin. MAJOR score. I knew that it would be a melty hot day so I opted for a skirt (which is actually a dress) and a tube top. I think I melted this when we photoged but I live to tell the tale. God I love SUMMER! Looks like this week is going to be pretty spicy too.
