Excited to share our Wedding Reception with you today! It’s the last photo post I have to share. WAH!! I don’t want it to end. But I will be sharing my wedding video with you later this week so stay tuned! So, the reception was in the same location as the ceremony right along the water. I really feel like we lucked out with the weather. In Hawaii you never know when you will get a little rain shower but it was nothing but sunshine. Here you can finally get a good look at my ladies in the wedding party. I will be honest, finding bridesmaid dresses was SO hard. I was looking for something to fit my 6 month pregnant friend, and my nursing sister. It is hard to find dresses for woman with a larger chest. Let me tell you! I also wanted something simple and modern that the girls would be able to wear again. Thankfully my dear friend Rory made my girls their dresses before her new collection was even for sale. SHE SAVED ME!! It was the most beautiful gift. I love how each girl picked a different style. The Groomsman all looked dapper in their matching tuxedos. I feel like guys just have it so easy. Right after the ceremony, my nephew Jacob ran over to me and asked if him and Shay and Sammy (my flower girls) could play with the pineapples. I told him we would have a deal if we could steal a photo of them. This might be one of my favorites of the three of them laughing barefoot in the grass all holding pineapples. HEART MELTED.
For all the florals including my bouquet and the decor, I wanted everything white with accepts of local palms and ferns to give everything a rustic feel to reflect the island. Nothing to perfect. For our dining tables, we used farm tables and rather than cover them in table cloths, we let the natural wood shine and used long table runners of greens sprinkled with florals, white candles and raw pineapples. I have a thing with pineapples thanks to this wedding! Blake and I decided on a Luau style buffet for our dinner so guests could mingle and eat as they pleased. We also chose to not assign seats so people didn’t feel so formal. Love stories from my friends who got to spend time talking to my Grammy. I feel like what they say is so true about your wedding going by in a flash. Luckily, since we only had 44 guests, I felt like we really were able to talk, mingle, and eat our own food. We started the reception out with our first dance to Otis Redding’s I’ve been loving you too long. What made our first dance EXTRA special was that Blake actually underwent back surgery just 30 days before our wedding. There were no crazy dips or fancy moves in our dance, it was special enough that he could walk down the aisle, and sway to our favorite song.
After dinner, Blake and I snuck away for a few photos at sunset. After walking to the end of the pier on the property, we took time jsut the two of us, to sit on a bench away from anyone else, and take in the last moments of sun together. I remember someone telling me how fast the day goes by and to find a special moment to take for ourselves. This was ours. Afterwards, there was lots of dancing and then a performance by 2 fire dancers and a drummer. We later shared a strawberry and cream cake and walked out in a sea of sparklers. Our favors for guests to take as they walked out were from my (and Blakes!) favorite Swedish candy shop, Sockerbit. Since noise ordinance in Hawaii is very strict, the party needed to be wrapped up by 10pm. So Blake and I grabbed a bottle of whiskey and the left over beers and threw them in a bag with the rest of the sparklers. We headed back to our hotel with a small group of friends and lit all the sparklers at once and stuck them in the sand to light up the beach. I sat in my fancy dress in the sand next to my husband, sipping a drink, and hanging out with some of my favorite people. BEST DAY OF MY LIFE. I know it sounds cheesy, but it’s the truth and I wish any of you Brides-to-be out there a perfect day in your eyes. Stay tuned later this week for our wedding video!
