holland / eindhoven

As many of you know from my tweets, I have been in Holland for the past week visiting my family which was really special for me since I don’t get to fly over every year. I set out in the afternoon for a day with my cousins Joost and Stefan in Eindhoven. It is very typical for it to be raining CONSTANTLY in Holland so if you look close enough in these photos, you can see little raindrops! (Hence the wet sidewalk behind me) One of the best things about these cities is the unbelievable amount of outdoor seating at cafes and bars. You can have your pick of any place and be able to score a seat outside. The weather was quite a bit colder here then at home. While in Philly it was in the upper 80’s, it was in the low 50’s in Holland. YIKES. I was NOT ready for this. Good thing I packed alot of long sleeve pieces with me or I would have froze my butt off. All the outdoor places had little heaters set up so I wasn’t cold at all. I even heard if you get too cold, you can ask for a blanket. LOVE THAT. Blanket please! Another amazing part about being there is that everyone rides bicycles. There are special pathways for bicycles with their own traffic lights and its makes it very easy to make the decision to commute that way. It’s no wonder everyone here is tall and thin because they are biking EVERYWHERE they go. Lol. I had Joost snap my outfit pics close to the bar we went to sit for an afternoon drink. Since my trip was last minute, I didn’t have time to grab all my fall/winter stuff yet but luckily I had bought this top on sale a few weeks back and remembered to bring it. Also you’ll be lucky if im NOT wearing this jacket. I feel like its been plastered to my body ever since I got it. I had a great time walking around with my cousins and we later went to a Spanish tapas place for dinner. Nom! More posts this week on my trip. Stay tuned.

Anna - I love love love Holland. When I visited Amsterdam in August of 2008 I was so surprised that it was SO cold and wet and rainy. Expecting August weather, like in the U.S., I had no warm clothing at all, so I was forced to shop, hehe. How do people remain so nice and friendly despite this constantly wet weather, I have no idea. Your pictures are making me want to run away to the Netherlands, sounds like you had a wonderful vacation. 🙂ReplyCancel

Where Heart Meets Sole - They way you tied your scarf here is really great! I am definitely going to have to try that out as soon as it gets cold enough to through one on! (I thought that might be today, but alas, it wasn’t)ReplyCancel
