Weekend by the Beach / Part 1

This past weekend Brian and I headed out to Long Island with our dear friend Morgan. This was going to be a beach weekend filled with lots of hikes, relaxing and good food. As many of you know, I have a deep love for the ocean so any opportunity to enjoy its beauty with good friends is a no brainer! So let me tell you about our road trip. We headed from Philly to NYC and pit stopped there for dinner and a sleepover with Morgan. We were able to sneak in a pretty sweet dinner with my other lover Melissa! On friday morning, we grabbed a quick breakfast and hit the road for our trip to Long Island. It was smooth sailing all the way there! Of course we stopped for lots of goodies on the way.

We made it in time to take a walk on the beach before sunset. Scroll down to check out my outfit and more about my day. We are about to be in photo overload!

[sweater: zara / shorts: uo / sunnies: marc jacobs c/o shopbop / tights: borrowed from Morgan / boots: steve madden / socks: target / octo necklace: modcloth / chains: vintage]

Some hugs on the beach with Morgan. The moon was fully visible during the day. Pretty!

And a few snaps with my lovahh.

There is something so serene about the beach in the winter. I do love it in the summer time don’t get me wrong, but there is just something about its quiet beauty in the winter that draws me in. It’s funny how even the light seems different when you change geographical locations. I of course was CRAZY to be wearing shorts this day. It was very cold and windy as you can see in some of the photos. You might have to pry these shorts off my legs because I keep wearing them. Ha! Morgan and I continued to bounce around the beach, snapping away photos while Brian also snapped away. I am always so lucky to have him there, taking amazing photos and being so supportive! ((Thanks Bri!!)) It’s also nice because Morgan was able to take a few photos of us. Our afternoon was overall a great introduction to this magical place.

Check out Morgan’s blog for her outfit and some other extras goodies! Stay tuned for many more photos from my trip. Can’t wait to share!!!

Lisa - It’s true, sometimes going to the places you love in the winter gives it a whole new vibe. Sometimes I like to go to the cottage in the winter because it is such a nice escape from the city and I get to enjoy the snow the way I want to.

I can’t believe you wore shorts to the beach! You must have froze!ReplyCancel

Leah - I absolutely love the beach during the cooler seasons. It’s almost as if you are strolling around on an oxymoron…haha! I have those boots, too! They are the most comfortable boots I own! 🙂ReplyCancel

Ashley - These photos of you are beyond lovely.

Could you look more classy and warm in those shorts?

In the middle of winter for no less.

I have yet to find a pair of shorts that I feel look reasonable on me, but I have hopes that I’ll pull off the look with even half as much sass as these photos some time soon.

The West Coast is definitely warmer, but I wouldn’t mind the East Coast because it seems just as lovely in it’s own way.ReplyCancel

Santina - Beautiful photos. I have never lived in a state that doesn’t have a coast, and I honestly don’t think I ever could. I crave the ocean…I need to the ocean! I also love the beach in winter. Growing up in RI, I almost liked it better when it was cold because I’d get the beach to myself. And, I suppose I’m spending the “winter” on a beach right now, but it’s still 80 and sunny every day!

    Love your layered necklaces!ReplyCancel
