Excited to share more moments from your wedding with you today! For the ceremony, Blake and I chose to had a non-religious ceremony infused with Hawaiian traditions. Reverend Laki Pomaikai Kaahumanu, was the man whom married us! He had us laughing (and Kissing!) the whole ceremony long. Fun fact: He is the same Hawaiian royal that performed Claire and Phil’s vow renewal on Modern Family. He is connected to Hawaiian Royalty on the island and I thought it would be special to have someone to tied to the island and it’s traditions to marry us both. Before guests took their seats, we offered fresh citrus water and lemonade to cool off as well as a table filled with polaroid cameras to snap some photos to leave us at the end of the night.
We kept the decor simple because those gorgeous palm trees behind us is what I really loved about the property. Let’s also talk about how freaking cute my nephew and nieces were! Decked out in the cutest J.Crew pieces. To keep with the Island vibes, we had the rings tied to a pineapple which my nephew Jacob carried down the aisle. Look at how focused he was! As much as I was totally relaxed and cool as a cucumber the whole day, the only time I was SO nervous was right before I walked down the aisle. You see Blake going down with the biggest smile in the world in the first few photos. Melts my heart. Blake wore a Big Island Maile which is traditional in Hawaiian style weddings. We still have it hanging in our apartment right now! I was so lucky to be able to walk down the aisle with both of my parents. Once I look down the aisle at Blake and started to walk down, all the nerves just melted away. Our ceremony was not more than 15 minutes. Simple and sweet. My biggest take away was Reverend Laki’s explanation of Aloha. “Always Love Over Hate Always.” I think ever since the ceremony, those words have really stuck with me.

Thuy - Love the idea of an intimate, simple ceremony outside. I can’t imagine feeling obligated to invite people you don’t even care about just to have a big wedding.
