Excited to share photos from our trip to Maui. When Blake and I got married we knew that we would make coming to Maui a ritual and started by turning our 1 year anniversary into a vacation trip. We started our stay at Hotel Wailea who welcomed us into Maui. A little breakdown of what we did and loved during our stay.

HOTEL // I was excited to try it Hotel Wailea as it’s an adult only resort (kids 16 and up) so we could really get that romantic getaway vibe. I am always struck by the amount of lush greens in Maui. The property was filled with flowers and palms like our own little oasis. We spent our time by the pool, eating lazy breakfast on our balcony, and heading down the beach. It was the perfect place to relax in peace and quiet.

FOOD // This is only our second time in Maui but we are starting to find our favorite places. Here are some of the spots close to Wailea where we loved to chow down. Will be sharing some other favorites in my next post as well.

The restaurant at Hotel Wailea: The restaurant at Hotel Wailea. We ate here for dinner with a beautiful candle lit view. Would recommend for a romantic fine dining dinner. The pasta was so good!

Coconut’s Fish Cafe: Perfect place for a quick informal lunch. They are known for their 17 ingredient fish taco. The taco itself is HUGE and a little messy to eat but it is so worth it. I also love the mahi mahi fish sandwich there. Must stop if you have never been.

Monkey Pod Kitchen: We ate here twice for dinner on this trip. We just had to come back. Their flat bread pizzas are incredible and all the food has a fresh farm to table vibe to it. Tons of local Hawaii beers on tap and the best part, house made pies! The coconut cream pie… I dream about it. Very casual dining and we even sat at the bar one night and loved the live music.

Kihei Caffe: Don’t get intimidated by the line out the door. The line moves fast and it’s worth it! This little spot across the road from the beach is a casual breakfast, lunch, brunch spot. If you want a simple egg breakfast or banana macadamia nut pancakes, it’s all infused with Hawaiian flavors. Great spot to grab a quick bite and then head across the street and watch the surfers do their thing.

Cafe O’Lei: This restaurant actually also does catering and catered our wedding! I didn’t even know they have a restaraunt until I was searching for places to eat one night for dinner. Great place to grab some local caught fish and celebrate with Mai Tais. Casual, kid friendly and buzzing with happy people. Also in downtown Kihei and great spot to go hit up a bar afterwards if you are looking to go out.

ACTIVITIES // Maui is always a great place to explore. I highly recommend renting a car so you can explore different parts of the island. Their are ubers and taxis but some of these places you just want to take your own car.

Maui Waveriders: Those who know me know how I have always said I would never go surfing. Mostly because I am both fascinated and terrified by the ocean and what’s inside it. Sharks. I am scared of sharks. I also used to fish alot when I was younger and got a feel for what I am pulling out of the waves… Anyways! Blake wanted to sign up for a private surf lesson and the night before, I decided, you know what? When in Maui… learn to surf. I am SO glad I did! I got up many times and had so much fun! We got a private lesson for the 2 of us which made me feel much more comfortable with such hands on help. Pushed my boundaries and glad I overcame that fear. Highly recommend this company. We surfed the break in Lahaina in the morning. Side note: wear a one piece. I lost my bikini bottom a few times 😉 And don’t forget to bring sunscreen!

Road To Hana: The Road to Hana is always a must when on Maui. Seeing the rainforest there is something out of a fairy tale. This trip, we went to see the Seven Sacred Pools. I highly suggest driving the back country way, if you are comfortable with going off the beaten path. Insanely beautiful ocean views riding along the coast to Hana.
