San Diego has always been one of my favorite places to visit. Before Blake and I were married, I spent time flying from NYC to San Diego to visit him. Needless to say, it’s a pretty special city to me for more than one reason. When we drive down to San Diego these days, we always bring along our pup Lola. We love to make our way to the Coronado Dog beach there. From the dog beach you can see the Hotel Del Coronado in the distance. I have always hear such magical things about it and was jumping for joy when they asked us to come by for a weekend to check it out. Kind of a dream come true to be walking distance to the dog beach! Below are some of the things we did that we loved while we were there. If you ever find yourself in the San Diego area, you must go and check it out. Even just to grab and ice cream and go walk the beach.

HOTEL // Filled with a lot of history, I feel like I have seen The Del in film and photos for a long time before being lucky enough to come and visit. Facing the ocean you just completely feel like you have fallen into a little beach paradise. We were lucky and had a great little balcony facing the ocean. We also brought Lola along with us. A true dog friendly hotel where we could really bring her around with us. She obviously had a great time. I love finding places where we can bring her because traveling is so much fun when she comes.

FOOD // A unique part of the hotel is it felt like it’s own little resort. So many restaurants and shops we literally did not have to leave. Listed some of my favorites below.

ENO Pizzeria & Wine Bar: This place was pure magic. As an east coaster, I tend to be pretty critical about pizza. This place serves up wood fire grilled pizzas that will blow your mind. Was really impressed so much that we are going back in 2 weeks when we will be in town with some friends. I also love the outdoor tables set up next to individual fire pits. Love to be able to sit outside by the ocean and still be warm by the fire.

Sundeck Bar & Grill: We came here a few times during our stay. It’s a super casual beachfront spot so perfect for a great view. I am a sucker for Mexican food so we loved stopping here for a light lunch or just a happy hour snack. Our favorites were the guacamoles and the seafood ceviche with a Margarita.

California Clambake: This was one of the most unique experiences during our trip. The hotel hosts a California style clambake right on the sand. I have NEVER done this before and it was so cool to go and pick out our fresh seafood and watch the chef prepare it for us. They only do this 2 times during the summer so if you want to catch them they are doing another on August 12. While it’s definitely a pricey splurge, it’s a really unique and one of a kind experience I think is worth every penny. Also, I am a suck for oysters… and they had all different kinds to choose from. Say no more. Tip for a clambake on the beach: WEAR A SWEATER and red lipstick was a terrible idea. HA!

Mootime Creamery: So, I am SAD to say we did not get a chance to try out the ice cream shop. Although, every time I walked by…. I was tempted. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. But really what happened is I always stuff myself at dinner and ended up trying desserts at the restaurant. On my next trip back, there is will be room for ice cream. But it looked super cute so if you are in the neighborhood looking for a scoop, great place to grab and then take a walk along the beach.

ACTIVITIES // Being set on the Ocean, it’s impossible to not spend all your time outside. We spent alot of time walking around, exploring the property, and soaking in a lot of sunshine. The beach is stunning and kind of perfect with the beautiful little lounge chairs lining the sand. We also spent one of our days sitting by the pool. I always make it a point to get showered and ready before sunset so I can take that time to relax and enjoy the view. Worth being around to enjoy it here.

We had the best time and want to send a big thank you to Hotel Del Coronado for showing us your dreamy beachy vibes.
